Kids Say the Funniest Things

Keegan's and Alden's cousin Mason and his family visited us for about a week, staying in our guest room, which is just opposite the play room. One morning Mason's mom, Tricia (Kathleen's sister) was sound asleep, only to be woken by a huge ruckus in the playroom.  The boys were shouting at each other something fierce, in the middle of a serious argument. It was bad enough that Tricia got out of bed, and went to see what was happening, only to find a tightly closed playroom door. So she knocked.

Suddenly, there was silence, broken only by Keegan's urgent whisper:  "Lets just pretend that none of this ever happened."

Trish, working hard not to laugh out loud, knocked again.  The door opened and she asked, "Is everything ok in here?"  Keegan, just a little too quick and urgent responded, "Nothing wrong here, nothing at all."

Why is it that I laugh the hardest when he is doing things that he shouldn't do?  Oh he just cracks me up, though.

He is hardly alone.  Kate just returned from Girls camp, where she was asked what the difference was between a geek, a nerd, and a dork. (Apparently, she had used these words liberally enough to prompt the question.)  Her response:

"Geeks rule the world, Nerds help them rule the world, and dorks are there to do the heavy lifting."

Alden, thankfully, remains a straight shooter, but I am sure one of these days I'll have a doozy to report from him as well.
